Our weekend

4.08.2013

Guess what?

I ran the Willpower 5K in Franklin on Saturday and how shocked was I that I placed!?!  Sadly I was there all by myself because my little men had soccer games to get ready for (but really daddy wanted to sleep, ha) so I left right after the race to get back to them and didn't hang around to see results. Boo! Little C's soccer coach (who also ran the race and passed me pushing a double stroller) handed me my award at the field and said "Look! You got second place!" She also got 2nd in her slightly younger age division:)  And that's how it went down; my time was 23:58 (7:44 pace) and I'm so proud!

I posed shamelessly with my precious trophy. I may never get another one so I lived it up.

I actually got to meet Will (and his sweet mom) and he's a darling kid, very brave and so inspiring. His family was SO kind and just really amazing with such a strong faith. This touched my heart obviously because I'm a boy mom. It was a memorable day!

And it wasn't all about me, someone scored his very first soccer goal later that day! Love.these.boys. So proud!

Happy Monday friends:)

Weekend + Life Lately

1.28.2013

Happy Monday! Let's go with bullets today shall we?

  • We got in some really good family time this weekend.  It was low key, unplanned, and normal.  I had a great run on Saturday (8 miles!), ran some errands, spent time with Mr. C, and played with the kiddos.  We went to church on Sunday, had lunch with dear friends, and just did normal 'good for the soul' stuff.  I love normal life:)
  • Disclaimer: some of these photos are not from this weekend.
  • The collage:
    • OOTD - I broke out the army green skinnies I've been ignoring.  I needed a change!
    • Mr. C and littlest C are identical twins (chowing down on Greek food). They look so much alike!
    • New outside lights to replace reeeaaaally ugly, outdated gold ones. I'm wondering why it took us so long to do this?
    • Advance Auto Parts, my husband's way of punishing me for shopping too much. He has a '65 Mustang that is a perpetual project.
    • This was on Lauran's instagram feed and it made me laugh out loud.  Read her blog, it's so fun!
    • Rainy day paint by numbers, my children are so talented:)
    • The boys wrestling (or rather, wraaastling) in the bounce house. It's really just a giant boxing ring.
    • Little C's static hair.
    • My sweeties.
Short and sweet today!  Have a happy day!

Weekend Update: fall festivities

11.12.2012

My friends, here we are again! The 'fast forward' button is still pressed and these fall days go by like a blur. Nonetheless, we had such a busy and fun weekend--hope you did too:)

Some pics. First, OOTD's.

My furry vest is a fall favorite and I wear it so much I'll bet people are tired of looking at it.  And my boots (recent TJ Maxx find you may recall); I refuse to take them off of my feet except to shower.

My ON shirt; I love it.  Heading back for another color.

My precious cowboys.  We had a birthday party this weekend and it was so much fun.  My 5 year old refused to ride the pony (he felt the pony was too tall, ha!) but my 3 year old gave it a try.  We've been to a couple of fabulous birthday parties lately at friends' homes and they are so much fun.  I think I may try to be brave next year and have a birthday party at our house for the first time?! I'm inspired! Clearly I'm renting the pony.

I had coffee with Bailey's on Saturday evening (after the birthday party and dinner with friends), biscotti, and attempted to read my book.  It was so relaxing.  This book is not my cup of tea and I hope I can finish it soon to end the misery.  (It's Pictures of You and I just don't love the characters but I also can't put it down because I'm halfway finished.)

Some playground time; the leaves are amazing, I wish they could stay this way a little while longer.

The hubs made me a yummy breakfast; avocado, fried egg and ham on toast.  Delish.

And I couldn't resist this reality check.  I've had a few emails about my hair (bless your hearts, you must be trying to make me feel good;) and my routine is simple.  I just blow dry, then use velcro rollers (I roll the middle straight back, the sides straight down).  My hair cannot handle a flat iron, it starts smoking then falls off. Not good! Pay no attention to my unclean laundry room as it cries out for help.

Coming up this week (hopefully):  big boy room plans, living room update, and probably something random.

Happy Monday!  What've y'all been up to?

Weekend Update

11.05.2012

Aaaand it's Monday again!  I hope y'all had fun weekends (I'll be checking in to see, ha!).  We had a good one; it started out with no plans (but I quickly realized I do not like feeling bored) so we got busy on Sunday.

Here's what we did (in no particular order:)

Found a food truck. Sadly they were closing and didn't have any more of the fancy stuff so we had hot dogs; but they were fantastic hot dawgs.  So yay!  I'm now stalking them all on Twitter so I won't miss out anymore.

Got a mani on Friday (and a pedi! with my 3 year old in tow! I was desperate!) and I love this color. It's a shellac and had no name, just a bunch of numbers, boo! Why don't they name them? I'm calling it Cocoa.

Worked on my arm party.  I needed a big gold watch because I want to wear my Stella spikes constantly and they don't look good with my silver watch.  So I splurged (kidding).  No Michael Kors here, this is a Tar-jay special, but it'll do!

Went for a run on Saturday and it did not go well (sad face).  I still had major pain in my right knee and had to stop at mile 2.  I iced that night and headed out again on Sunday (per PT's orders).  Surprise -- my first good run in a while!!  It wasn't pain free, but I easily ran 3 miles at an 8:15 pace.  It felt amazing!  I hope I'm close to a comeback and was thrilled to see improvement. PT mentioned last Thursday that we may be able to start building my distance again, oh I hope so!

Went to church.  How cute are the little men in their very first sportcoats? (Thanks Nana!)

And, I HEART flannel.  I want to wear it every day, so comfy and warm! Heading back to ON!

The weekend + Sandy stuff

10.30.2012

Happy Monday Tuesday friends! I lost a day, it's so hard to keep up:)  First, our family in New York is getting pummeled by Sandy:( But Mr. C talked to them and they are doing fine--just soggy.  This is a picture from the morning before the big part of the storm hit in Centerport, NY where we got married.  We had pictures made right under that sign...and right now it's under water.  Eek!  Just hope everyone is safe:)

So hang in there friends and family:)  We are thinking of you.

I have some pictures to share from the weekend.

1.  If only my legs were as long as my shadow's.
2.  Blood orange sangria from Burger Up {our fave burger joint}. Whoo gracious, it was strong!
3.  The most delicious burger ever:  bison burger with white cheddar, fried red onions, fried jalapenos, romaine, tomato, and honey dijon aioli.  Sinful!!
4.  Fried pickles--impossible to photograph without little fingers digging in.
5.  Chobani addiction.
6.  Leopard jeans and pointy toe shoes (haven't worn those in forever!)
7.  Little man on top of hay bales.
8.  One sinister pumpkin: this was the only face the boys could agree on so I went with it. EEK!
9.  Pillows from a local artisan at the Nashville Flea Market: a dear friend and I went on Friday and had so much fun!  I kid you not, we saw these pillows from across a crowded room and the angels started singing.  I'll post a room update at some point.

Now, if you're still with me, I have a fun story!

I mentioned we ate at Burger Up on Saturday and we were in for some excitement (celebrity sighting!) It was pretty crowded and they have a tiny waiting area so we were elbow to elbow with the people in line in front of us.  Guess who it was??

Scott Hamilton (Olympic gold medal figure skater) and his family and friends.  Y'all know I am a geek about celebrities and I'm easily starstruck.

I did not jump up and down and squeal that I was honored to be in the presence of an Olympic gold medalist and that I am in awe of a world class athlete who has knees strong enough to land countless triple axels when it is all I can do to go for a jog without needing physical therapy.

I did not ask for his autograph and a photo and I did not call my mom and squeal into the phone and ask him to say hello to her. I did not tell him that I watched him win countless figure skating championships on television and dreamed of being a figure skater as a little girl and wearing those beautiful fancy sparkly costumes they get to wear.

I did not mention that I saw him perform on Stars on Ice and that I.am.a.huge.fan.

But I wanted to:)

And that was our excitement for the weekend--even the hubs was grinning.

And did I mention his friend complimented me on how well dressed my children were?  Made me feel good:)!!

Weekend Update, a day late:)

10.23.2012

Friends, I missed you yesterday!  We still had family in town and have been super busy but I'm here to share some fun pics with you today.

First, in my Friday post I wished our friend Ed good luck in the Marine Corps Marathon, thinking it was last Sunday.  I am an idiot.  It is next Sunday.  Good luck Ed--next Sunday!

Now for the weekend!  My husband's parents are lifelong New Yorkers so we took them off to the pumpkin patch for some down home fun.  I'm pretty sure this was Jerry's first time roping a steer.  He did great!

We ate hot dogs, ribbon chips, rode the train, said hi to friends, picked out pumpkins, and drank real Coke (it was ice cold and delicious).  Made some good memories.

The boys love Aunt Sarah.  She lives in Manhattan so it was fun to see her run through a corn maze and ride a John Deere train.

Also fun having another photog around..

Candied pumpkin spiced pecans--SO GOOD!

  • Fun hanging with Sarah at dinner!  She ate her first fried pickle, we're turning her into a country girl.
  • Channeled Shanna and since I didn't have time to run to Old Navy and buy that vest she wore that I wanted, I cut the sleeves off of last year's safari jacket! HA! And I love it!
  • Made Andrea's banana bread.  You have to make it.  It was almost gone within 10 minutes, delicious!  I added chocolate of course.
  • We also roasted marshmallows. Mr. C has been wanting a fire pit forever and couldn't resist getting one with his dad in town.  I am looking at this picture wondering what I was thinking letting my 3 year old hold fire?!!?
We made great memories this weekend and I'm exhausted (probably most of all from our attempts at a Christmas picture...I'll share later this week)!  Happy Tuesday gals!

Scenes from the weekend

10.15.2012

Weekends fly by, do they not?  Here's what's been going on here...

I finally wore my peter pan collar shirt to family pizza night on Friday.  This is the reality of trying to take a picture of myself (which is already awkward) while 3 wild boys are in the house.  Take 1;  The hubs decides to do his Risky Business dance.

Take 2.  My children show up to imitate him.  Who's the grown up here?

I tried to do the black dress/brown boot look (thanks Pinterest) on Sunday. My boots are 10 year old JCrew specials and they are a little orangie but I tried.

And....
1.  I found a wine I'm excited to try--named for my birth year, ha!  So old!!  I hope it's good!
2.  New chairs!!!! Finally, we are close to finishing my living room.  It's so overdue.  I'll have a little before and after later this week.  We're not done yet, but close.  It is amazing how giddy a new chair makes me.  I seriously love sitting in this chair!  And we have 2!  Come over for tea please!
3.  A little DIY action.  I really like this on my door but I'm not wild about the font on the C.  I may change it, it was so easy to make.
4.  Stella & Dot spikes.  I've wanted these forever, so glad I pulled the trigger because I LOVE them.

Back to pizza night... we found a New York style pizza place that my husband loves (I do too:) and we go almost every Friday.  Pepperoni for the little boys, eggplant/basil/ricotta for the big people.  So good!

And finally, remember last week when I told you I got the hair donut?  I loved it!  It does make an enormous bun, but..it makes my hair look thick and it's a nice change from the pony tail.  I liked it.  (p.s. that's not lint on my sweater, it's toothpaste on the kids' bathroom mirror, so hard to keep clean!:)

I hope you had a great weekend, can't wait to see what you guys have been up to!  Linking with friends.

Hello weekend

10.05.2012

It's been a good week here, but a loooong week, and we are happy that it's Friday.

And happy it's pumpkin time:)  Off to do some punkin' pickin' this weekend...

and indulge in a real Coke (it's been too long)... our favorite pumpkin patch always has ice cold Coke and it's such a treat;)  If only they had cold beer...

 Y'all have a good one:)

InstaWeekend

7.16.2012

Hi friends! Hope your weekend was great.  Here are some scenes from ours.

1. Hope you don't get tired of horse pictures. I always stop during our family bike rides and photograph this farm.  I'm sure the horses are sick of me.  They probably roll their eyes when they see me coming. Next week I should take some apples!
2. Fried pickles at a new local restaurant--these were SO yummy.  They weren't the usual dill; instead they were homemade and had a spicy bread and butter vibe.  I loved them.  Mr. C did not love me taking pictures of them.
3.  Flowers
4.  Tasty wine
5.  Saturday movie night--I slept through "Man On a Ledge" but Mr. C said it was pretty good.
6.  Little C playing with Mama
7.  Mr. C made waffles
8.  More horses!
9.  Little C driving one of those fun video games I used to love (well, I actually still love them)

And that's it for us.  My friend and I did sneak away Sunday afternoon to see a movie (and what a movie it was!). Holy moly, my poor eyes are still burning!  Happy Monday:)

Stop in here to see what everyone's been up to!
