Random Wednesday #932

1.30.2013

So many random thoughts today, here we go!

Have you seen this website where you can turn Instagrams into canvas (and many other things, even iPhone cases)? Kinda fun.

I just came across the website handbagheaven recently too.  You probably already know about it!  But just in case you don't, they have every kind of bag you can imagine and they're all under $85:)

Find here
This necklace is only $20 from Brighthouse Baubles right now. I'm ordering, especially after seeing Annie's cute outfit Monday (I think hers was from Bauble Bar). Can't go wrong either way!

I seriously love these pants from Lululemon but I'm afraid I'll look like Beetlejuice running through the park. I really love how fun they are though!

I've reached some running milestones lately.  I ran an 8 miler on Saturday and it felt great to be getting up there in mileage again (haven't run that distance since last September!).  And yesterday I ran 2 sub - 8 minute miles in a row and finished 3.1 in 25:22. That was a goal and it felt good to reach it!

I've also determined my Chicago training program. Totally doable I think! I might add more cross training though.

We saw Dierks Bentley at lunch Sunday.  Y'all know I'm a geek and I love celebrity sightings!! This reminds me that recently my 3 year old's pre-school teacher told me that he was singing a D.B. song at the play-doh station in class..... "5-1-5-0 somebody call the po-po, I'm goin' crazy, thinkin' bout you baby". Mother of the year over here, oops! At first I wanted to melt into the floor but then we both had a good laugh about it. Wow, they really pick those words up quickly! Note to self:)

Random Wednesday #4937

1.23.2013

It's Wednesday and that means it's time to be random! Good thing because my mind is all over the place this week and in full on mommy mode.

Yesterday's to do's: (the ones I can remember anyway)
Book C's birthday party
Get C's invitations made (Sweet Birdie's Nest:)
Look up Kindergarten registration dates  (oh my word, we're starting kindergarten??)
Register C for Pre-school
Sign both C's up for Soccer
Make plan for summer camps
Sign up for swimming
Grocery shop
Feed my family
Make reservations for Chicago
Run
Relax:)

I didn't get it all done but I'm close!

So I caved and bought a Scuba hoodie from Lululemon and I have no regrets. It is so warm and cozy and I love it like I love cake.  I present to you my new mom uniform, complete with a power bar in hand, so cliche but I'm laughing, who cares!

I ran yesterday in 24 degree weather. My body was warm but I thought my face was going to crack and break off.  BRRRRR!  Not since we lived in Pennsylvania have I experienced air this frigid.  I made it a short and sweet 2 miler and ran a quick first mile -- love that Nike+ encourages me with hysterical one liners.

My mother in law bought me a dutch oven and I LOVE it. I have a wonderful recipe to share, coming soon.... It's one of those things that I wonder how I lived without.

Currently reading....

It is very well written but parts are difficult to read.  It received wonderful reviews and has been on my 'to read' list for a while. Would I recommend it? Overall, I think yes.  But I'll warn you it's not light -- heavy subject matter.

My sister in law gave me the cutest little Eiffel Tower jewelry holder from Anthro.  I rudely forgot to send her a thank you note. It sits on my desk and has become one of my favorite little trinkets. Thanks Sarah!

We have been having so much fun playing Spot It! with the kiddos.  If you haven't played it you should, it's really fun!

I'm loving Keith Urban on American Idol. As you may or may not know, he's like Elvis to me.  I'm his biggest fan.  I think he's funny and sweet on Idol and I love it! Nicki Minaj cracks me up too.

Here's a picture I snapped at the Opry last year of Mr. Urban.

Oh wait, here's another one.

Not that I have a collection of Keith Urban photos or anything.

Happy Wednesday friends! I'm linking with my pal Shanna for her fun link up:)

Guess who's all signed up for The Color Run / Nashville? {me} Oh yeah!  It's March 30th and I'm super excited to run with my pals, it's on like donkey kong, I can't wait!!!!!! I'm into videos right now, watch this and I promise you'll smile so big and die to run!

For you Nashville fans, Deacon (Charles Esten) played The Bluebird (the real one) last night and I was dying to go.  Mr. C had an early morning though so I took one for the team and missed out. Maybe next time! He's so talented.

Latest JCrew purchase....Painter boatneck button tee in multistripe. I love it. FYI it seems to run small, I normally wear an XS in their shirts but had to size up.  I think it will be cute in the spring with white jeans and a cute scarf.

I'm loving my Lilly planner this year! I had an Erin Condren last year and it was really nice but too bulky for me, I didn't use aaaaall those extra pages. This one is perfect.

Gap is still giving clothes away. I got some of their supersoft tees the other day for $5.  Yes $5.  I throw them on in the spring with jeans and a scarf, go stock up. You're welcome:)

I'm loving my Nike watch, it helps so much with my pace, how did I live without it?? Mr. C surprised me with it on my birthday. I know, some girls like diamonds but this girl wanted a GPS watch. It's pretty fantastic.

This was the bible verse on my phone the other day and it made me laugh, delivered via the verse-a-day app.

It also pleases the parents.  Please children, please:)

Speaking of children, here are my little men carefully selecting gelato flavors last Saturday night.

I love it so much, these boys {sigh} so precious.  Serious cuteness.

Happy Wednesday friends!  If possible please send me some sunshine, we've had 5 days of rain and I'm over it! Linking with Shanna's random Wednesday:

My favorite running song of the moment is an oldie but goodie: Bryan Adams Summer of '69.  The boys love this song (should I admit that?)!

Favorite non alcoholic beverage: Grown up Soda Extra Dry Ginger Ale from Fresh Market.  It is so carbonated that I cannot get enough.  It saved me while I was pregnant and deathly ill and I still love it. Drink it from a wine glass and it's even better.

I had a packet of these fuzzy grip infant hangers and discovered they are wonderful way to hang my 37 pairs of jeans (why do I never have anything to wear?).  My jeans don't slip back and forth and they are nice and neat looking.

I forgot to show you the fabulous birthday dessert I enjoyed from Watermark restaurant in the Gulch.  So delicious, a gooey butter cake with spiced pear compote and a dash of frozen chocolate.  The chef of this restaurant (Bob Waggoner) is pretty decorated and quite amazing in my humble opinion. Amazing drinks, desserts, cheeses, and wines (fabulous entrees too although we only indulged in dessert/cheese/wine). Can't wait to go back.

P.S. Did I mention I did a Sake bomb on my birthday (first one ever?) I'd love the share the youtube video of that but my husband has asked me to refrain;) Ha! It was fun.  Except that I was hungover the next day.  But then I ran into Brad Paisley at the toy store and instantly felt better.  :)

Anyone addicted to Homeland?  We are.

If you liked 24 you'll love this show.  It isn't pretty, but like I said, it's very addictive.  We watched 3 in a row last night!

How's that for random? Happily linking with my pal Shanna's amazing blog;) Happy Wednesday!

Random!

12.05.2012

It seems I can't get lots of time at the computer these days so this post will have to cover a lot, aka be random.  Here's what's up!

  • Last weekend was great!  We went to a friend's birthday party, I shot some family pictures for a good friend (so fun!), and then we got our Christmas tree.  Here she is!  And thank you to the kind lady who offered to take our picture, I'm finally in one, yay!

  • Thank you to my sweet blog friend Sara who sent me the prettiest notecards (that she made) --  gorgeous!

  • Today I have an appointment with my orthopedic Dr. to go over the results of my MRI.  You know what? I'm not even nervous.  I know my knee is fine.  I just know.  Yesterday I ran the fastest mile of my life, a 7:19 (woohoo!).  I know that's not fast for many, but I ran 12 minute miles in high school (not a fast girl here!) so that's an improvement.  I have had great runs lately and finished a 6 miler on Sunday with almost no pain.  I felt like doing cartwheels!  I reeeeaaally want to run another half.  The next one planned is in April, the St. Jude Country Music Half, and I'm planning to run the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington next fall (the WHOLE 26.2, eek!). I had hopes of running New York but I'm not likely to get in.  But that's okay! I'm excited to get past this injury and train.  It has become such an important part of my life and brings me so much joy.  Plus it makes my jeans fit better.  And workout clothes are comfy.

  • I'm trying a new face cream, Korres wild rose.  It has no chemicals, gets great reviews, and I hope I love it. I'll let you know!

  • My Christmas cards are done and on their way--thank you to Sweet Birdie's Nest for creating my favorite card to date!  Love.these.cards.  Love!
  • Did you see the thing on Pinterest about stringing your Christmas lights up and down the tree instead of all around?  Since I'm the light hanger in my house I decided to try it and it worked so well!  I finished in 3 seconds and wasn't covered in sap with pine needles in my pants.  Thank you Pinterest. The boys selected colorful lights for the second year in a row.  I prefer white, but it's not about me;)

  • So excited for Christmas this year, the boys are so darling and it's funny to hear their little conversations about it.  I need to start recording some of them!

  • I want to spend a million dollars at JCrew.  I can normally keep myself out of trouble by not going into the store but I stopped in last week and just wandered around daydreaming.  I want to hug and kiss this plaid shirt.  I did not leave with it, but I wanted to.

And this plaid skirt.  Adorable.

Happy day friends!  Linking with Shanna for Random Wednesday!

11.14.2012

I'm excited to link up with my blog friend Shanna for some random goodness:)  Here's a little dash of life lately!

I finally downloaded some of my half marathon photos! Ah, the memories.
Exhibit A: feeling good

Exhibit B:  This was right at the finish line.  I know I look pitiful (you can laugh, my husband did) but I still love this picture because I remember exactly how I felt in that moment.  I was hurting pretty badly and thankful to still be on two feet.  I could see the finish line and I pushed myself so hard to run across it.  My goal is to run my next half with no pain, to finish strong and smiling, and with a killer time.  I simply cannot wait!

Speaking of runners, I'm obsessed with what type of running gear people select.  I mentioned I love my GapFit pants like I love chocolate.  I saw this pic of Stacy Keibler sporting Gap's workout line.  She's so fabulous.  I love it more now.

Also very interested in running shoe choices.  I do believe Reese is sporting New Balance.  I still want to try Brooks.

How cute is a hot pink flannel from Tar-jay?

Ina's new cookbook Foolproof is at Costco right now for $19.   Go get one, it's awesome!

Does anyone remember Herself the Elf?  I loved her so much when I was little and found this recently in an old book.  It made me smile!

This was on my stairs last night and nearly caused me to go into cardiac arrest.  It's "I" week at school and apparently they were studying insects.  One found his way to my house.

I love Zac Brown's new song "Goodbye in her Eyes".  I listen to slow music sometimes when I run (in addition to Flo Rida;) and his instrumentals are so soothing.  And I love his voice.  He's joining Kenny Chesney for a few concert dates next year, I'd love to see it (no Nashville dates though, boo!) But he will be in Atlanta, fyi ATL friends:)

Can you guys believe Thanksgiving is next week?  Happy Hump Day!
