Get ready

4.08.2011

for a picture overload! I'm not apologizing either:)

Evie came to play this morning.  Seeing these 3 little ones play together always warms my heart.  We had a great time as always, but the kids gave us a run for our money today.  Poor Jennifer and I could hardly get a word in edgewise!!  CD and CJ struggled to remember their manners, which makes mommy stress out...so we had a refresher course after Evie left.  These things happen, don't they?  Sharing is tough..they have good days and bad days.. I hope Evie will forgive us and come back!

We put CD in bed hoping a nice long nap would help mr. cranky-pants, and CJ and I rested on the couch.  Later when little one got up we went out to play.

This was the giant hairy annoying bumble bee that RE-fused to leave us alone this afternoon.  He hung around long enough to have his picture taken.

Aaaaand we hope you have a lovely weekend! We are pooped and off to watch Dateline=)
Bye!

T-shirt project

My boys are lucky enough to have the nicest clothes in the world (thanks to NANA, not me:) but the one thing they lack are play clothes.  I'm kind of a weirdo in that I'm not the biggest fan of t-shirts with a ton of writing on them for the kiddos.  So a light bulb went off.

I AM a fan of FlyThroughOurWindow's t-shirts.  But I'm feeling cheap this week.  And they already sold out of the tractor raglan in our sizes.

So.

I went to JoAnn (having remembered seeing some cute iron-on's there when I was making a pillow) and got the boys a couple t-shirts and iron-ons.  The shirts were $3.99 and the iron-on's were $3.99 (although Jennifer gave me a great tip to look on Etsy and at Hobby Lobby, she has seen them for a dollar on Etsy!).  And voila!

Isn't my model precious? I know, I'm just another proud mama:)

Aren't they cute?  Iron-ons have come a long way baby. These are fabric (which I love) and the shirts were easy and fun to make!  Cute little t-shirts to play in, hooray!

P.S. CD has started driving;)

Product love

4.07.2011

I mentioned a while back in this post that a hundred years ago when I was young(er, ha) I majorly overplucked my eyebrows.  It was "in" at the time to have thin eyebrows, but I overdid it.  And so began my eyebrow saga.  Of course, as soon as they were plucked away, I wanted them back.  Ooohh but it sure can take a long time to grow eyebrows back.  My eyebrows are still on the thin side.

Anyways, Val was sweet enough to comment that day and share with me this valuable information:   that Smashbox had a fabulous eyebrow product that would change my life.  She was so right! Thank you thank you Val!

It's called the brow tech trio and angle brow brush.  The browns are powders and the lighter color is a wax that really grooms and holds your eyebrows in place.  I had been using a Lancome pencil for years.  Though I never 100% liked the way it looked, I was afraid to try powder and brush.  I kept thinking that powder/brush was probably for people with full eyebrows.

But no.  This powder is sooo soft and it just looks so much more natural than that crazy old pencil I'd clung to for years.

So yes, it changed by life:) Loooove it!

If I were brave I would show you the difference, but I'm not.

I also got this exfoliator as a sample and love it!

I've tried Apricot Scrub and it never did anything for me.  Same with Alba and other drugstore brands.  I really like this one except for one thing: it's pretty pricey.  A tube of this and you're halfway to a Clarisonic. So.. I will say it's pretty fabulous and would probably last a while, but, it's $85 for 2 ounces. Ouch! You can buy half an ounce for $20 though so I might do that.  My skin feels so smooth and clean when I use it.

My other summer fave is Mac Lipglass in Nymphette.

It's a pinky gold that I love.  I've also tried Pink Lemonde (too bright for me), Wonderstruck (a nice pink but it's Lustre-Glass and for me LipGlass lasts longer), and Oyster Girl (which is pretty).  If you know of another fresh and pretty pink please let me know!

Reasons to smile

4.06.2011

My sweetie brought me flowers yesterday for no reason.

CD really digs this giraffe that normally lives in CJ's room and it makes me laugh.

Yesterday while I was upstairs putting away laundry the boys ravaged the bookcase and had some fun reading.

And last but certainly not least, Evie stopped over today for some fun with my guys!

It's been normal life around here and we're just happy and enjoying ourselves.  We're crossing our fingers that this pretty sunshine hangs around for a while:)

Trader Joe's and tornadoes

4.05.2011

We headed out early yesterday morning to Trader Joe's (one of my favorite places on earth). We picked up some groovy items like chocolate covered sunflower seeds.  Yum! (Warning: eating as many as I did yesterday may not be good for your health).  TJ's also had the usual yummy chocolate covered cherries, blueberries, and pomegranite seeds.  Is it okay if my daily serving of fruit is smothered in chocolate?  I'm going to say yes.  And have you tried their vanilla cream yogurt?  It tastes JUST like cheesecake.

Thankfully we got home before some ma-hajor weather set in.  Around 2 o'clock it was raining like mad and the wind was crazy.  Tornado sirens were going off.  I consulted weather.com, who told me to get in a closet and stay there until otherwise informed.  I put the kids in the closet and we waited for the storm to pass.  Luckily we were fine but I think there was some damage in the area.  The boys were pooped from the excitement.

When Big C got home little C promptly informed him that we hid from a scary toy potato! He also informed Big C that a tornado happens when the wind gets swirly.  So smart these little ones.

I also received a new product in the mail.  Some new eyebrow stuff.  (Thankfully tornadoes do not scare UPS).  I used my old product on one eyebrow and the new on the other.  When Big C arrived I asked him which eyebrow looked better.  He knew the importance of his answer.  Beads of sweat formed on his forehead. He'd better get it right.

HE DID!  He totally guessed which eyebrow was sporting the fabulous new product!  (I have eyebrow issues from overplucking in the mid-90s...) Anyways, credit for the product goes to Val and I'll tell you all about it tomorrow. (or soon:) It deserves its own post.  It's very fabulous.

And while I'm jumping around, since teacher appreciation day snuck up on me Big C stepped up to the plate and made some cards for me.  Aw!

And that was our day!

Weekend highlights

4.03.2011

Let's start with the delicious part. Big C and I went to dinner Saturday night at Red Pony..sigh..

Beyond delicious, and such a cool place. We had lobster spring rolls to start, then spearfish with a yummy spinach saute and sweet potato hash, amazingly yummy shrimp and grits, some delicious Sauvignon Blanc, and we ended with Chocolate Demise, *the* most decadent dessert ever.  It was as good as it sounds! Yay for date night! If you're ever passing through Franklin, TN, you'd better go, you won't be sorry!

Now, for the rest.  This weekend was about projects.  We worked our little tushes off!  I painted Little C's bookcase fire engine red, we gel stained our front door (sounds weird but looks so great), finished painting our shutters, and painted the chair-rail bright white in the living room (and started on the one in the dining room).  We also cut down a few pitiful Dr. Suess trees out front in an effort to sweeten up our landscaping.  Maybe I should start a house projects page! We've been working so hard and it's always fun to see the finished product (even though we are tired and felt like saying bad words about halfway through).

Well the boys are really giving us a run for our money.  They constantly bickered over the weekend (I have low tolerance for this) but when they get along it is the cutest.  The bickering will wear you down fast though.  Big C and I go from frustrated as heck to melting with the sweetness.  They are just back and forth!  Example: when we got home Saturday night and went to check on them, CD had snuck into CJ's room and crawled into his bed and fallen asleep!  They slept like that till morning and it was seriously the cutest thing ever!

There, I hope I didn't bore you to death:)  Got some cute pics of the kiddos this weekend.

Our neighbor's car really caught CJ's attention..he gave it quite a few looks..

P.S.  Happy Birthday Aunt Sarah!

A husband's dream..

Meet Shelby..  (Shelby Cobra, that is..)

My sinuses have been driving me batty this week and I have therefore been short on patience with my crew.  So the eye candy above is simply to surprise my husband (he's a faithful reader:) and make him smile:)

HAPPY FRIDAY! HAVE A FABULOUS WEEKEND:)
